Para comprobar si un ordenador es alcanzable o no, puede utilizarse la clase WMI "Win32_PingStatus":
Get-WmiObject Win32_PingStatus –filter "Address='www.netzweb.net'" | Select protocoladdress, statuscode, responsetime
La PSCX (PowerShell Community Extension) ofrece, además, el cmdlet "Ping-Host", el cual devuelve una estructura de datos del tipo
"Pscx.Commands.Net.PingHostStatistics":
Ping-Host 'www.netzweb.net'
